heat rises

I own a two story A frame home and the ac works fine but the upstairs temp is aprox. 10 degrees warmer. the home has been remodeled, all looks good except I noticed the air returns are located next to the cold air vents, and is the same in both upstairs rooms. Should the return air register be located between the rooms, and or should it be up high because heat rises?:sweatdrop:

I also own an A-frame.
The return registers should not be near the supply vents, as it will draw the cold or warm air immediately out of the room, and they should be as high as possible.
Good Luck!
Mike

That,s what I thought. The preveous owner must have done that himself without even checking online like I am. Thanks for the info.
