Heat Pump trips breaker
Have a 20 yr old Bryant heat pump. The breaker for the fan and motor tripped twice. Reset the breaker and the unit is working blowing hot air. Noticed the breaker when it tripped it did not go all the way to the off position. Decided to install a new breaker and unit worked. However, only a couple of hours later I went down to panel box and noticed a different breaker tripped. It is the breaker for the heat pump outside of the house. Reset the breaker and it is currently running. Not sure if by turning off the power I tripped the breaker to the heat pump somehow. Any suggestions ? Thanks for your help.

what you may have done is upon shutting off HP you reapplied power to quickly and the Compressor tripped the breaker due to the pressures not being equalized.

ya mr hvac that does happen. The system could have had some start up issues.Possibly drawing high amps trying to fire up.I always ck out electrical connections to make sure good and tight. Also if system has aluminum wires feeding it ,Make sure to put de-ox compound on the connections.Helps it stay cool and dont oxidize the electrical connection. Sometimes when ther systems running and goes into a defrost ,the system may not terminate defrost quick enough and cause it to trip as well. This is an outside possibility to. From your post it doesnt sound to bad !
