My heat pump is a American Standard Heritage 10 (6H0036A100A3). The wiring for the system contained 8 wires. I bought a new thermostat (Honeywell RTH7600D) but am having trouble wiring it. I am not getting any heat from the system. The wires in the old thermostat were marked as follows...

Old System set up (color wire):
R (red)
G (green)
Y (yellow)
X (black)
E (brown)
O (orange)
W2 (white)
W3 (blue)

New System inputs (Honeywell RTH7600D) with my connections:
C (black)
G (green)
Y (yellow)
O/B (orange)
RC (connected to R)
R (connected to RC) (red)
AUX (white)
E (brown)
L
***Blue wire is not connected to anything

Did you go into installer set up and tell it you are connecting it to a heat pump.

Should have gotten one that does 3 sages of heat. You will probably have to also connect blue to aux.

It did not give me option to input that it was a heat pump in the set up. Only wiring had arrows pointing for letters associated with heat pimp. Another issue was when the old thermostat was on the white wire was attached to W2 and blue was attached to W3. The new system does not have a W3.
