Question

Heat pump condenser fan missing: how do I know what to replace it with?

It's kind of a long story but my father's heat pump condenser fan is missing. How do we know what size/blade count/pitch to replce it with? Is it that critical? I can't find any information on this. I guess no one expects you to lose the fan.

It's 23-something" hole so I assume it's a 22" blade. My father thinks the fan my actually have been larger than the hole and positioned below it. I really don't know but that doesn't sound right. Neither of us can remember if it had two or four blades. And the pitch...who knows?

Here's the information on the heat pump:
model: UPCG-036JAS
by Ruud at division of Rheem
ser. no. : 4442 M1692 9732

compressor R.L.A. = 18. 9/18. 9
L.R.A. 100/100
Outdoor Fan Model F.L.A. = 1.3
208/230 V.

Also, the fan should pull air in through the coils and out the top, right?

Link won't work for me. Won't allow selection of part type.

Does not seem to be any mention of fan blade or condenser fan motors.

Thanks for the link. I found the fan on there. Seeing the price makes me very glad that the missing fan turned up today!

Heat pump condenser fan missing: how do I know what to replace it with?

The motor was toast. Last winter we had a local motor shop pull the fan and order a new motor (for less than half that price). Spring came...summer, fall. By that time it was burried in my dad's giant, junk packed garage. Because he had brought the motor in and I picked it up 6 months later, thinking little about it in between, no one could remember what happened to it. I thought for sure it had gotten left at the shop and lost or thrown away. Oops.

So know it's back together and working but it's just a hair out of balance. There are a couple balance clips on the fan. Is there a trick to balancing it or is it just a lot of trial and error? ....Move the clips. Turn it on....Move the clips. Turn it on....

Don't know of any way to field balance the blade, not that bad to buy a new one.

You did ok on the motor BTW. I was under the impression only the blade was missing.
