Heat Pump "check light" comes on????

Folks, i hope you can help me out a little here. I have a heat pump and my thermostat, which is a manual one and not digital has 3 lights on it, the first one is Check Light, the second one says Aux Heat and the third one says Emegency Heat, i've been in this house for about 4 years now and i've seen the Aux Heat light come on but i have never seen the "check light" light come on, can anyone explain to me what this is for and why its coming on, this is a White-Rodgers Thermostat.
Thanks
rockey

Heat Pump "check light" comes on????

The outside unit is fine, we live in South Mississippi so it really doesnt get that cold, last night probably got around 30 degrees or so but the unit has really never had ice on it. Yes, its been working fine and still is i just noticed the light the other day and had not seen it before and just wanted to make sure i wasnt over-reacting due to a light on my thermostat.
Thanks

you could try googleing your tstat # to see exactly what you are supposed to check have you tried turning the stat off for 10 or 15 min to see if the light goes off it could just be a fault in the stat what brand of equipment do you have how old is it and is it high efficeincy

The outdoor unit is sending a fault signal.
Something is not right with it.

Could be an intermitten opening of a high or low pressure switch.
