Heat Pump

I have a two yr. old Goodman heat pump with electric back up that I have had nothing but problems with. This time it will frost up at 30 degrees and will not go into the defrost mode. We put in a new board and temp sensor and still no luck. It has a ten yr. labor & material warranty, but this doesn't help my electric bill when the furnace runs constantly on system + 2. Also the heat pump is still running at this temp. I guess the next step is that he will check the gas when the it hits 50 today. Any suggestions?
It's frustrating because I replaced a 20 yr. old Trane that had no problems for this high efficient heat pump/furnace.

Thanks,

If it is not going into defrost I would start with the defrost board or sensors. If it is going into defrost but not defrosting you have another problem. Can you hear the reversing valve switch when it goes onto defrost? Three things should happen when it goes into defrost. 1 the reversing valve switches, 2 the outdoor fan stops, and 3 the heat strips come on.
