Heat keeps running

even after the temp inside the house has been reached and passed.
This is a goodman heatpump/furnace.
put the temp at 68 at Tstat, gas heat comes on room temp passes 68 but the unit never shuts off.

What would be cause(s) of this issue? thank you all...

Check if your heat pump turn off after the furnace turn on. Check if thermostat is set to heat or Em heat.

hi,
checked the thermostat. it is on Heat.
I do not follow your advice on checking the heat pump on/off.
the heat pump continues to run even after the set temp on tstat has been reached. it is like a switch is not engaging to tell the unit to stop, just do not know what it would be. any other idea(s)?thanks

Set your thermostat to Em Heat. At this point only furnace should work.
