Heat Exchanger Warranty?

I used to work as a dispatcher for an AC company about 25 years ago. I seem to recall that at least some manufacturers provided 20 year warranties on their heat exchangers.

My house has an Armstrong Ultra SX80 gas furnace in it, that is about 15 years old. The heat exchanger is cracked.

I have never heard of an Armstrong, but I was in Florida at the time - gas furnaces weren't common there.

Has anybody heard of Armstrong, and what are the odds that the heat exchanger might still be in warranty?

Most likely it is under warranty, Armstrong is made by Lennox.

As long as the original owners didn't register it, it should have a 20 year warranty. Warranty is to the original owner.

Thanks! I saw the Armstrong furnaces had 20 year warranty, but didn't know if the older units also came with that.

Now to find out if we can get it honored. The house is a foreclosure, but we met the guy who used to own it. He told us he left all the paperwork behind, but the bank cleaned it out. Thanks to the lady next door, we can also get contact the original owners who put the furnace in. Hopefully they remember who installed it. And, being that this is Michigan, hopefully the installer is still in business.

I've been pretty lucky so far, so keep your fingers crossed for me!

as an armstrong dealer....makes no difference who installed it ...model and serial # is all that is needed for replacement if you can't get the company that installed it ..ask around for good contractors in local area...
