Have Heating ducts in basement Ceiling leave or move?

I am remodeling my basement. I only have 2 ducts that blow into the basement area and they are in the ceiling between the joists. One on each side of a 25 x 26 area.

Should I move them to the wall? or they fine where they be?

If so how do go from a 6" duct to a stud wall space?

I would move them to the outside walls of the room as well as add a couple, I would also add a return air grill in the room.

Having experienced heat in the ceiling of a basement, I would move them even if it is difficult or somewhat costly. I've practically frozen to death in that situation.

What is the stud spacing? You should be able to make the transition from round to square ducts with no problem.

Does the system cool as well? If so, you could keep the ceiling vents for summer and close them off for winter and vise versa.
