Maybe a place that goes in and guts and sells old materials. Other wise, some web searching would be in order.

When I absolutely needed to upgrade the exhisting registers,I took them to a local collision shop and had them stripped and repainted.I got them back looking like new.

Where are you? An architectural salvage yard is what you need---In this area we have 'Salvage 1 '

Post your nearest city and maybe some one here will offer a suggestion.

Give these guys a call. They are in Lakewood, OH.

http://www.airrite-supply.com/

They might not have an exact match for what you have now, but I think they can supply you with something that will work better and look better than the old gravity vents.

Those look like they just took the frame and made it to hold a standard modern vent cover. We have taken ours room by room and primed & painted them as we went. Still have four rooms to go.

That's exactly what they are.
