Goodman Ignitor Problem
I've got a Goodman 100-4 that doesn't always ignite the
burners everytime. It goes through it's normal startup..
Exhaust fan runs, ignitor glows orange then I hear a click from the valve that let the gas flow but it doesn't ignite. I get a whiff of gas when this
happens so I'm thinking the valve is working. Since it doesn't light the
system shuts down and tries again after a few minutes.
I can make it light almost every time by blowing across the burners
when I hear that gas valve click. It seems that the gas is not getting
close enough to the ignitor to light off.
Once it lights all 4 burners put out a bright blue flame.
remove burners and rinse out with water
yep the burnner crossover needs cleaned.....use warm water...ben sr
Thanks for the info.
I'm gonna give it a try.
The Igniter is in the main gas flow so a dirty crossover would still allow at least one burner to ignite. If no burner ignites, a dirty crossover is not the issue.
A dirty burner defuser can direct that burners gas away from the igniter, just as an igniter that is not fully hot over it's entire surface can cause what you describe. Check if it looks like one particular part of your igniter is glowing very brightly. Check if the igniter is fully in the main burner flame.
