Goodman heater not making heat.

Hi. I have a Goodman GMP075-4 furnace (indoor/attic) and, after nine years of reliable service, last night it didn't work for the first time. I've already cleaned the flame sensor with Brillo and reinstalled it - to no avail.

The blower starts for about a half minute and then there's a click with a whooshing sound for about ten seconds, but no flame of any kind. Another half minute goes by, another click and some more whooshing, but still no flame.

Any advice on how I can troubleshoot this myself? I'm a DIY green-pea and have never repaired a heater before, but I can handle a screwdriver and pliers well enough if the job is simple.

The hot surface igniter should glow red hot in front of one of the burners and light the gas. Sounds like yours is burnt out. It is not a easy DIY job on those and can be dangerous if not setup properly. Best to call a Pro.

Thank you for the fast reply, Yuri. Not the answer I was hooping for, but at least now I have authoritative information going in.

I appreciate the advice.
