Goodman ck36-18 question
 

My Goodman ck36-18 compressor stopped cooling(compressor buzzes for a couple of seconds, fan motor never kicks on, only the capacitor hums). If I start the fan by hand then it runs fine but the compressor never kicks on. Any help would be appreciated.

Record the information on the capacitor, and try to pick up a new one from a Goodman dealer, if both the compressor and condensor fan use the same capacitor. If they are separate, any local Grainger or HVAC supplier should have them in stock.

Make sure you have the proper voltage at the contactor.

Thanks. The capacitor did the trick. I'm curious though why the contactor continued to hum even when the breaker was pulled and the capacitor was out. Is there power coming from the air handler?
