Getting New A/C System looking for some guidance

I知 thinking of getting an air conditioner system looking for either central or split unit. The house is locates in los angeles and it's 1100 sq ft, 2 br,1 bath, kitchen, dinning/living room all new windows and plenty of space in the attic for ducts and access to all the rooms.

I知 trying to figure out what is it that I need or what to look for in the quotes so i can make a good decision on what system to get.

my budget is around 2500 to 4000

thanx is advance

JL

Use 6K as your starting point....then when you get the actual bid you won't pass out!

Plan on 30K then when it's lots less you'll feel all warm and fuzzy.

Yeah i hope is not 10K for a central unit! or else i will just go with a mini-split unit.

Costco has a promotion on Lennox unit I will give then a call for a free in home estimate and go from there and compare quotes once i start shopping around

I think you may be able to get it installed under 10K. Get 3 bids at least and make sure that the companies have references and good reputations. If your neighbors have similar size homes talk to them. See what they have and see who did the work. Word of mouth is very important.

+1 for what Missouri said about referrals.

Also, don't fall for "sign today and I will give you $xxx discount" sales tactic.

If the contractor is good, word of mouth referrals will keep him busy and will not have to resort to such pressure tactic.

Don't forget to check his license with your state.

good luck
