Getting humidifier to run with the furnace blower, not just while heating
I have a Heil DC90 central furnace with an Aprilaire 760 humidifier. The way the two are connected, the humidifier is connected directly to the manual humidistat and then it has a 120v plug which plugs into an outlet on the side of the furnace which is only energized during heating (HUM terminal). This means the humidifier is only able to run during heating.
This configuration is not always providing enough humidification.
The thought I had... My Ecobee thermostat has an option to "activate the blower with the humidifier when the humidifier is needed." Would this actually work? Or would the lack of hot air be ineffective?
Assuming that would be feasible, then I need to get the 120v outlet energized with the blower. Would switching it from the HUM terminal to the EAC terminal allow that to happen?
