get humidifier to power on only when blower runs?

Is there a proper way to hook up a 24vac load (or 120vac adapter, whatever is easier) so that it only runs when the furnace blower is running?

I'm sure I can figure somethin out, but just wondering if there is a standard way to do it. Can I just tap into the blower motor wiring, somehow, I don't think so because of the multi speed.

Tapping into the blower taps, will burn out the transformer.

You should have a HUM terminal that only energizes when the burner is running.

Ahh was just going to ask about that terminal since I saw it and suspected it was designed for that. If I put my volt meter between that, and COM I get about 27 volts, when the furnace is in heat mode. So I can safely tap into that?

Yes....

BEWARE for other readers of this forum, some units have a 120 volt HUM terminal as well as 24 volt HUM terminal. Make sure you test it B4 sticking your new humidifier wires to them.

Good to know. Went to start installing the humidistat and realized the screws they provide are way too short (got to love that) and I don't have enough wire, so I'll have to continue tomorrow after a trip to BORG.

And yeah, always good to test voltage on anything and not just assume.

I just installed a humidifier last weekend and mine runs on 24v. The Humd terminal on my board is 120v so make sure your meter in on V AC. Mine also and an EAC Electronic Air Cleaner so I used that. Now it runs when ever the fan is on.
