Gas shutoff valve

I spoke to my inspector yesterday about installing a gas fireplace. He suggested that I use one of the 'newer' valves with a red handle. I'm not familiar with these as I don't work with gas lines very often. Can anyone tell me about them?

Gas shutoff valve

Not sure what he means by newer red ones. They all do the same thing, though.

Either of those it?

If you did not know what he was talking about. You should not do anything with the gas line.
