Gas Furnace won't turn on and smells like burnt rubber
The blower will go on if I switch it to on, if I put it on automatic it will sometimes make a loud humming noise for up to ten minutes before turning on. It also smells like something is burning. If more info is needed please ask. Thank you.

First thing that comes to mind is that the blower is going or the second one is a weak motor capacitor.

I replaced the capacitor and still have the same problem. Isn't there a way to oil the blower?

The one thing I am confused about. If the problem may be the blower, why does it work ok when the switch is on but takes forever to go on with the switch to auto?

Question was whether the something was physically interfering with the blower turning.

Not sure as I am not looking at it, your motor could be a 2 speed motor, whereby the manual switch is wired to a different set of windings, regardless, the blower motor not starting when the call for heat turns it on, tells me that it will eventually fail completely.

Ah, well I don't think so because it goes on when i put the switch to on. Wouldn't it not go on in any mode if it was stuck?

So are you saying a possible motor issue not a blower?

Yes, the motor in most units, is intregral to the blower, in other words, the motor would be mounted directly to the wheel of the blower. The smell is the insulation on the motor winding getting too hot.
Granger or McMaster Carr, will have your motor in stock, but won't be open til tomorrow.

Could this result in a possible fire?

No, but when the motor finally give in, it will really stink bad and you will have no heat.

Thanks for the info. How do I figure out exactly what type of motor I need to get?

First you need the model # and manufacturer of the furnace, or, just dismantle the fan and take the motor with you.
