Question

Gas Furnace Making loud Buzzing when heat flipped on

Hello

I have a York Stellar Plus, Model: P2UDD12NO9501C

I believe its under 20 years old maybe under 15

When I hit the heat on the thermostat the furnace emits a loud buzzing noise

What could this be?

Will it be expensive to fix? Is it something I can do myself?

It sounds like the buzzing is coming from the motor area when I take the cover off.

Thank You

Have a service tech check it. It could be the motor, relay, bearings, blower wheel etc..

there are two relays in front of the motor in the control box area these are magnetic switches and you might have a defective one

In the first post of a thread, just above the posters name, is the date that poster made the thread. Just look at that before making a post/reply.

Also, might want to make sure you have your settings that the newest threads show up first on the forum page. Helps to eliminate the old thread mistake.

Gas Furnace Making loud Buzzing when heat flipped on

Hey Bob: I had the same problem. I changed the capacitor and it worked for a little. It was actually the motor and was dirty , I cleaned both but didn't work and had to buy a new motor and bracket which was old and riveted and couldn't tighten it. Now running smoothly. Check if there are any parts store that will sell you one or you can buy motors online as well. techs will tell you the motor is 500.00 not! got mine for 95.00 and a capacitor for $5.00. magicpatrick1 on youtube has alot of videos and how to change and clean etc. make sure you balance the blower wheel with even spacing on either side ,watch your fingers. Hope this helps somewhat. Also, some parts store if you disconnect the wires and keep it in the assembly housing will tell you if it is the motor by testing it at their store. I don't know if you have abcsupply there.
