Gas fireplace - pilot will not light

This is a great site, first time actually registering and posting though. Hopefully you guys can give me a hand, tried searching but perhaps my case is a bit different...

So my pilot won't light at all.

Piezo ignitor is working (I see the spark at the pilot).

Main gas valve is on (valve is parallel to line). This is in the basement, right below where the fireplace is on the main floor.

Control valve put to pilot and depressed. Ignitor doesn't light it at this point. Took fireplace cover off, when I depress the pilot control valve, I don't smell any gas or hear any air coming through. I've held it for a little while, but nothing. So clearly gas is not coming through. I've put a barbecue lighter to the orifice but it still doesn't light the pilot.

Any idea what this is? Do I need a new gas control valve? Thermocouple at this point is irrelevant because the pilot won't even light, right?

Thanks.

I think the next step is changing the pilot orifice?
