gas fireplace exhaust

I have a continental fireplace,12,000btu, it is top vented with a 4"/7" exhaust pipe, I have the termination box for the exterior wall. I am going through an area that has been sprayfoamed(2lb foam) is there any clearance issues that i should be worried about? I have hi-heat caulk for the joints, I know my termination needs to be min 12" from any window/door. If I cut a 8" hole to slide the vent out can I sprayfoam(expansion foam) it in to place?

I doubt it. Check the manufacturers instructions. Spray foam is not fire rated. Phone a reputable fireplace distributor and ask them what they use. Failure to do it properly and you may void your house ins. Fire inspectors can determine where and how fires start easily.

I am currently installing my direct vent fireplace with the same 4", 7" piping ,my directions call for a 10"x11" framed opening through the wall. I believe that will give you enough aar space between the pipe and the insulation.

Yep, you need to check the install manual for required clearance, along with your local codes on it. Spray foam is generally not approved to be used against a high temp surface.
