Gas Fireplace

Hello Everyone,

I have a question about installing a gas fireplace. The fireplace is about 10 years old. It was in one location in my basement and is now in a corner. I need to know if the sheet metal venting is specific to each fireplace or if you can buy it at Lowe's or Rona or Home depot. I was in Home depot and they had one kind but it was not the same as mine. I need to buy more venting as the fireplace is now further away from where it will be vented. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Other info (in case it matters):
Manufacturer: Valor
Model: 836 CNT

You do realize that you can't run fireplace flue piping horizontally?

1. yes, venting is typically unique to each manufacturer. however, some fireplaces do accept 3rd party venting from Selkirk, Simpson-Duravent, etc. You need to find out the model number of the fireplace, go to the mfg web site, find the the install manual (usually a .pdf) and read about the venting

2. depending on the type of gas fireplace, you can actually vent horizontally...direct-vent units allow that, whereas b-vent (natural vent) do not...again, check the manual.

I don't think he has a direct vent unit.
