Furnance blower fan Noise!

when the furnace kicks on an intermittent squeeking occurs. it is a WeatherMaker 8000TS by carrier. squeeking or however one describes the noise of any old blower fan needing some lubrication.

is there an easy fix?

Question

Furnance blower fan Noise!

how hard is it to replace the blower fan of a carrier Weathermaker 8100TS interior HVAC unit? product: 58TUA100----12116; model 58TUA100-16; series 120; serial 3000A61374

i'm looking at diagrams and it is greek to me. removing one and replacing with the same thing is monkey see/monkey doo. no prob.

power will be shut off at breaker and checked before touching anything. no worries.

Thanks for any help from someone who has done this before.

If it is oilable it has port on the side of the motor. It will have a yellow cap. But it sounds like a new motor will help. It can be hard to replace it and pull the motor from the wheel. Some case it better have someone to do it.

Spin the wheel by hand. If it makes noise then the problem is the motor. If it only does it on the torque of start up then the blower wheel is the likely problem.

Furnance blower fan Noise!

if the wheel is the little black wheel in upper panel of this unit (better described above) it makes no noise when turned by hand.
the sequence: something runs (that makes the squeek); then the furnace flames light and the little black wheel spins. so the squeeking starts before the little black wheel starts spinning.

Over the weekend the squeeking has went away. not sure why it made so much noise. but it prolly b/c i ran the fan constantly. (HEY, IS IT THE "FAN" THAT IS SQUEEKING? WHAT IS THE "FAN?")
i'm getting a quote on replacing the blower motor.
Thank you Marty S.
