Furnace Thermostat Relocation

Hi all. I need to relocate my thermostat from one wall to another in order to make room for my new wall mounted TV . Can anyone tell me if there is anything else involved other than disconnecting the wire, rerouting it, and then reconnecting it? Thanks!

Jesse

Make sure new location does not get direct sunlight, position stat at the same height it is currently.
Odds are the existing wire will not reach the new location, may need to run new wire.

Make sure you turn the power off first! Take notes and pictures if this is something new to you.

probably need new wire as most of the time it is stapled to the 2x4s inside the wall. keep it away from hot and cold registers and drafts also.
