Furnace stops working once a day - help
I have a 8 yr old Bryant upflow gas furnace. Last week while I was away my wife thought the furnace stopped working. She flipped the breaker switch and it began working again, however several times a day the furnace would stop. My father in law switched out the breaker, but still a problem.
I returned home and changed out the thermostat. Everything seemed fine but after a day furnace stopped automatically turning on, power was working as I could turn the fan on via the thermostat. I flipped the breaker and the furnace went thru its normal cycle of running the fan for about a minute, stopping then the burner would ignite and then the fan would startup and things worked great. Just about 24 hours later the furnace would not automatically kick in again. Temp went down to 68. I tried to lower the thermostat temp then raise to 70, I could hear the clicking in the theromostat indicating it was trying to kick the furnace on but it would not go on. Again I had to trip the breaker to get it to start. This same scenario has gone on for 3 days
Any ideas on what the problem might be? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
I just repaired a bryant with that same problem.
It turned out to be the gas valve.
When it goes thru its cycle see if your getting voltage to the gas valve if you are then it is the valve. If your not getting power to the valve then it might be the board working intermittenly.

Allan, thanks for your advice. I find it odd that it happens at the same time every day. I unplugged the electronic air filter and turned off the aprilaire humidifier to eliminate those factors but no luck.
I not a handy guy so I will have to call someone to service it.
