You only need a fresh air intake, if your home is so air tight, that there is no way for air leakage, or that the boiler/furnace and/or water heater is in a finished space.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

furnace room vent

but the room will end up chilling out in the dead of the winter.they only item they have had for years is a Honeywell flue damper that opens on stat heating call stays open during the cycle and coses when sta is satisfied....for GAS applications only bioler or furnaces...oil is not allowed...whats wrong with the air as it is in the basement.keep in mind the furnace and boiler heat the house air at say 70F if your bringing in OA at 30F your bills are going to climb to make setpoints

You could put a louvered vent on the inside and a fan in the pipe. Wire the fan to come on with the blower

I just saw something that would work. Look up motorized air dampers. Wire that to open up when your furnace kicks
