furnace replacement and evaporator coil leak

Can replacing a furnace cause a leak in the evaporator coil? Must the technician handle the evap. coil during replacement of the furnace?

Yes, they both in there together.

Depends if they had to move the coil to perform the install.. if its just a simple furnace replacement its unlikely they damage the coil. IF its a leak that can no longer hold freon.. its likely they accidently punctured the coil, if the coil is aged and has a small leak, was most likely there prior to replacement

On a standard split system furnace with A/C. The indoor coil is disturbed during the change no matter how careful you are. So a leak at the press sheet can happen. Its an incidental thing. Many companies will inform their customers of the potential before they change out the furnace, and offer to install a new coil at the same time at a lower price then if they have to come back later and change it out.
