furnace problems

Having furnace problems. Furnace comes on flame cycles blower turns on an cycles, but never hit thermostat set point lets say 70deg. Its always off by 2deg. on the low side(68deg.) the furnace turns off then a couple of min. later it starts to cycling again runs for a min. then shuts down. I have an old thermostat round honywell with mercury. Someone said it might be the heat anticipator, but would that make it cycle on an off like it does. Please help. Thank you>

Ok you have to assume the stats subbase is level, and 2 degrees isn't that off from your setting with that style stat.your not over heating....that cycling is the fan after you reach that 68F...the fans cycling on the left over heat from the last call of the burner.
