Furnace Ignitor Placement
I replaced my gas furnacce ignitor, and the furnace lights again. However, I didn't pay attention when I removed the old ignitor, so I'm unsure of the proper placement for the new one. It's in the path of the gas, but directly in front of one of the gas nozzles, and the lit gas appears to strike the ignitor and shoot off the the side a bit (the ignitor also has the lit gas flowing over it). I'm concerned the lit gas will heat/damage the metal structure of the furnace or shorten the life of the ignitor. Should the ignitor be placed directly in the path of the gas, or off the the side a bit, so it doesn't deflect the path of the lit gas?
