furnace ignition control

I have a question about my furnace it wont light.I think my robert-shaw ignition control is bad but not sure. When I turn up the thermostat i can here the furnace click.Makes me think the thermostat is ok.The thermostat works fine on cool for the ac.When I turn up the thermostat the ignitor does not glow.I checked the ignitor and its fine hooked it up to 120v.So is my ignition control bad?Could it possibly be the gas valve?

you tested the ignitor with a straiight 120Vs ...hook it up to the board or relay whatever controls the stat signal to feed 120V to it within the furnace...somethings not sending make sure you have a solid ground when you mount it and check 120V to it on a call for heat and trace it back.

I checked to see if it has 120v to the ignition control and it does

should be getting and arc on the pilot assembly then if not its shot

It is not getting an arc.It has a hot surface ignitor so it just glows red.It does not glow.So i guess my ignition control is shot.I think thats what it is.I think Im going to buy a new ignition control for 129 dollars and try that.Instead of paying a minimum of 300dollars to have someone come out and fix it.Dont have that much money.I just hope that fixes it though. Do you agree.

Check the safeties such as roll out switches, pressure switches and limits first. If any of those are open then the thermostat will still call for heat but control board will not send voltage to the ignitor. Once you locate the problem then it's time to dig deeper... find out why that safety tripped and fix the root cause.
pressure switch-blocked flue/plugged hose port/bad inducer
limit- over heated/dirty coil/blower motor failing/dirty filter
roll out switch- plugged or cracked heat exchanger
