furnace gas valve

Having problem with my furnace pilot light. The pilot is very weak and not enough to light the furnace. I can trick it by keeping the thermocouple hot until the furnace lights, I seem to have adequate gas pressure for the burners but a very weak pilot. Does a gas valve go bad controling the pilot light? Any thoughts? Heil furnace- sv9541 gas valve- auto pilot

Sounds more like the gas valve than the thermocouple to me possibly since you do have a flame but a weak one. The thermocouple is what sends signal to the gas valve to allow gas to flow. Either that or possibly the orifice is dirty or clogged.

You need take pilot apart and clean out the orifice. That a very small hole a piece of a wire brush can go through that hole to make more flow of gas
