Furnace filter recommendation?

For several years I've been using 3M's BETTER Air Filters with Micro Allergen Extra Reduction. I've used these on a Goodman gas furnace where the filter is mounted on two return ducts, instead of the furnace itself. I was recently told that this type of filter may be too restrictive, which is causing my system to short cycle.

What brand/type of filters are best for my setup?

Thanks.

True Blue pleated Merv 7 or Merv 8. Available at HDepot in Canada. Not sure if the US stores stock the same product line.

Furnace filter recommendation?

In the U.S. they are in green packages at the HD. After dealing with the performance of the restrictive performance of the 3M Filtrate, I switched a few years ago to the Merv 8 filters to avoid choking the system.

I have a slight allergy to cats, medium to ragweed/goldenrod and severe to horses. Fortunately, no horses in the house and my 2 large, black cats never bother me and my filters are quite clear when I change them every month or two. I run the fan 24 hours for 5 months when heating/circulating and on automatic when cooling.

Not sure of the furnace size, but one filter is 25x25 and the other is 14x14.

Depending on furnace size, and return duct size, the 2 filters may be large enough that you canuse those filters without adverse effect.
