I have been working on two York packaged rooftop units model # D1HG060 with intermittent pilot ignition and both have the exact same problem. When I set the units for heating everything runs smoothly, but after 5 minutes the burners shut off and there is no voltage on the ignition control. After 5 minutes the burners ignite again then shut off after a few minutes and the cycle continues. I did change the ignition control and filters on one of the units but it did not fix the problem. If anybody can help me it would be great.
Both units having the identical problem is odd. Is there a flashing led on a board that is giving a diagnostic fault code?
You can eliminate the thermostat as the culprit by jumpering R to W at the furnace thermostat connections while the thermostat is off to see if the unit still short cycles after 5 minutes.
If nothing changes then the pilot flame rods should be cleaned.
Next you need to meter which safety control is causing the lockout.(pressure switch, roll outs, all limits,
Does the blower run continually throughout the short cycle?
