Furnace Blower Problem

The blower on my furnace runs like it is turned on all the time. The blower runs for a while then turns off after a while then turns on for a while, etc. It acts like it is heating but it should be turned off. There is no heat when the blower is running when the thermostat is turned off, it works fine when turned on.

Is it the thermostat? Maybe the Heat/Cool/Off switch?

Are you saying that when you turn the thermostat up that the furnace will heat and work properly but when the thermostat is not calling for heat then the motor has a mind of it own?

I thought my description might be confusing, it was late.

When turned on it works properly, heat and fan.

Right now the Heat/Cool/Off switch is on Off and the fan switch is set to Auto but the blower keeps cycling like the furnace is in the Heat position. In this situation, the furnace is just blowing air, no heat.
