Furnace Blower
 

I have a Carrier 58MVP Furnace. High blower is not engaging. What do you suggest?

need a bit more info. not engaging in "on", in heat and/or in cooling modes?

We are definitely in Heat mode. Very cold in our neck of the woods. Low blower is working, but won't kick into High blower.

Not understanding low and high speed while on call for heat. What type of furnace do you have? Can you post make and model number?

And can you say if this is a new problem versus last year when you put it in heating mode?

That is a high end furnace with an ecm electronically commutated motor and circuit board. Not much a DIYer can do with it so you may want to call a Carrier tech. There were problems with some resistor blowing on the circuit board or in the motor module and some electronics repairing posters managed to fix it but unless you do that for a living a tech is required.

And can you describe the problem specifically? Is your home warming up? Is the furnace blowing warm air? Is your system cycling meaning is desired set point of thermostat being reached, system shuts down and then starts again all via the stat to maintain temperature?

How do you know what kind of furnace it is?

We have a Carrier Model 58MVP. Never had this problem.

that is no high end ecm motor. I'm still not certain there is a problem to begin with if the blower is coming on and warm air is being delivered to the space.

Set the temp @ 63 overnight. Morning it was @ 61 and running. Turned thermostat up to 65. High blower never engaged. Low blower going, but stops and restarts. It is now up to 62. Has not reached setting on thermostat.

MVP , V= variable speed motor = ecm. I have worked on LOTS of them.:yes:

I thought it was a single stage 80%.

yuri is 100 % correct, there is nothing a DIY'er can do himself on that furnace to solve the problem.....call a CARRIER tech not just anybody out of the yellow pages. If do not follow there suggestions I promise you, you will be creating a nightmare for yourself.
