Forced Air Smells-think it is duct tape

Hi, I had a friend who used to do HVAC come over and run a new stack out of my heater and up the chimney. He used duct tape to seal the joints. Now when the heater kicks on the smell of melting tape is making me crazy. I now know that he should.ve used foil tape. I did rip the duck tape off. What I want to know is how long will it take for the stuff to be done fuming?

I have NEVER seen any venting application that uses any kind of Tape. For your safety, get a pro to come out and vent whatever you are hooking up correctly.
