Floor Vents for A/C? + Ductless for upstairs?

I have a home that does not have an attic. It is in New Mexico and only needs A/C for a month or so in the summer. It has been really warm this year and I am considering installing Central A/C for the ground floor and a Ductless system for the two upstairs bedrooms. I have floor vents only on the ground floor since my furnace is located in the basement. Since cool air does not rise, will these floor ducts be okay for A/C (assuming the ductwork is compatible)? Also, what are your opinions of Ductless A/C?

I am not interested in window units, portable units or evaporative units.

Thank you!
