Flex to solid metal ducting

Good monring.....I was thinking of changing my home air delivery flex tubing to solid piping and covering with insulation myself......
1) Can I downsize the pipes do to less restriction in the air flow?
2) I have talked to multiple HVAC techs and they all say the most bang for your buck is to swap out the ducting with a superior product....Any experienced thoughts on that ......each one I talked to was not interested in the job, so they werent trying to sell me on the idea. The one contractor who said to swap it was the contractor on the job for my specific home and he knows they used inferior cheap products on these track od homes.........ANY THOUGHTS??

Flex to solid metal ducting

Start with checking the airflow coming out of the grilles(remove grilles first)is there good air movement?
the cheap flex duct are not sold in america.just a bunch of BS here.
the grilles are stamped steel(3/8" air gap)if you want better airflow go with an up grade and replace the grilles with the bigger openning between fins.
re-place the filter grille w/hinged filter grille.
