first company hw system


I have a first company hot water furnace. when the unit calls for heat the blower comes on right away which blows accross the unheated coils. during the winter months I kill power to the heat pump which causes the boiler to fire as aux heat. it seems that i need to run the t-stat up by three degrees above setpoint to make the air feel warm. I am also interested in changing the blower speed and am confused as to which wires to move.

Cost you less to heat if you leave the heat pump on.

Should be a wiring diagram on the panel that shows what wires to change.

there is a wiring diagram but it is most confusing. there are four wires coming off the fan, black connected to the high post on the circuit board, blue connected the low post, red to the spare post and of course white to load. the diagram calls for different colors and is therefore hard to absorb. it does however suggest that black is high, blue is med and red is low....but on which posts. your help is appreciated

Instead of killing power to heat pump, sounds like you need to just set your t-stat to aux heat...that should solve the need to bump the t-stat up 3 degrees, which causes the t-stat to energize the aux heat relay.

Without a picture or schematic, it'll be hard to tell you what wires to move where. As was previously said, you'll need to read thru the schematic.
