Fireplace Insert Help

Can someone answer some questions about this insert we got real cheap?
We want to use it in our new house. We have radiant heat, and we'll also have a heat pump, but want to use this for back up, and to have fires with company, etc.
There are no markings, tags, stamps or anything on this thing.
I was planning on building a wood frame base, covered with cement board and tile. The floor around it will also be tiled or stamped concrete.
Then the box that will house it????

1) Anyone know what make it is?
2) What material(s) does the box that will house it need to be made of?
3) Any clearance dimensions?
4) Should I just call the inspector and ask him what he requires?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Google/ BING; wood burning fireplace insert installation, lots of sites there

I would be concerned what your insurance company has to say first. If the unit is not installed with a permit and proper inspection and then has a fire you may have no insurance. Ignorance of the law/rules is NO excuse. Talk to your ins company and adjustor first. Tell them it is used ( if it is used) as it may turn out to be illegal to install it. Better to find out ahead of time then have to rip it out later.

there has to be a sticker on there somewhere...especially a UL stamp....without that UL sticker, I doubt you want to install it.

Might explain why it was so cheap.
Even if you are on the right track, you will still get run over if you just sit there.

So I took off the front covers and lo and behold, a UL sticker for the fan assembly.
Superior The Fireplace Company on it.
Maybe they can get me some info on it.

Thanks guys
