finished basement heating/cooling?

I'm finishing of my basement and need some advcie on running the air ducts. I did some searching but didn't find alot of info on this. What is the best way to run the heat ducts and cold air returns? Where do you recomend putting the vents, in the wall or ceiling, where on the walls or ceiling? Any info you can share or links to articles to read will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

sorry i'm not familiar with all the terms. Is AHU, air heating unit? If so it is in the basement, almost in the middle. I will have a full bath, bedroom(about 12x20'), and a long family room(about 15x25-30'). The family room runs the length of the house and the bedroom/bath run next to it. hopefully this helps a little. Thanks for any advice.

Real basic: Cold air returns should be near the floor in a wall. Heat supply vent in ceiling would be cake for basements with drop ceiling.
