filter for 20.5" x 20.5" intake?

Hello, the furnace intake ceiling duct in our new home measures 20.5" square. This odd size requires a 20" x 20" filter to be taped in. I do not want to order custom 20.5" filters or cut down larger ones. Does anyone know how I can modify the current duct to (tightly) accompany the 20" filters? Thanks in advance!

Also, the current air vent cover grille requires unscrewing a bunch of screws. The home inspector suggested that we switch to a quick release grille. If anyone can point me to easy-access ceiling air vent grilles, that would be super helpful, as I'm not sure exactly what the inspector was referring to...

take the cover grill down take a piece of wood fur strip and about 2" in screw it into the duct on all sides so now the 20.5 X 20.5 will take a 20 X 20 filter as you place it up into the duct.now for the grill couple of thin hinges from HD/LOWES will allow the grill to swing down and then 2 screws to hold it up.if you don't want to do the wood back up then buy a roll of filter media and just cut it to closest size and lay it on the grill and swing it up....missing that 1/2" around isn't going to effect your system that much..just verify there isn't a filter in the unit or on that return duct going to the air handler....so you know the grill is the only filter

Pick up a roll of cheap 1/4 or 3/8" foam like you would put on your door or window weather stripping and wrap around outside of filter. That will fill in the 1/2 inch gap and hold the filter in place.

Do a web search for a filter grill. They are cheap and easy to find. In the time you spend to remove/replace your existing grill you can install a filter grill, put your tools up, and be on the couch with a cold beer.

Thanks for all the great feedback! I'll start searching fir a filter grill that fits, but will use one of the temp. fixes to deal with the current extra 1/2" around the filter.
