Default Faulty Thermostat?

Hello, I woke up this am to a house that was 25C when its set to 20. Went downstairs to look at the stat and when I went to adjust the temp the the numbers just started to randomly change? Some of the buttons do not work now and when I go to change the day programming, the dates and times start to change automatically. I have changed the batteries but that didnt change anything? Do you think my stat is toast?

It's an older 5-2 Honeywell, about 5 years old.

Thanks!

Honeywell has really good customer support. Give them a call and they'll likely help you diagnose the issue.

You might also want to do a complete re-boot. Powerdown your HVAC system and remove the batteries from the thermostat. Wait a couple minutes and then power everything up and see if it solves the problem.

It might have gotten into a confused state.

Thanks, tried all that and still nothing. Went out and bought a new one and it works great!

On another note, my furnace is 2 stage and now my new stat is also 2 stage. What is involved in wiring it up? No extra wires were run.

Furnace is a Carrier Weathermaker 8000TS.

Thanks everyone!

Need enough wires.

And then reset the dip switch on the furnace to use the stat instead of the furnaces timer.
