Fart fan piping

I have 3 fart fans that are only vented into the attic, and I want to get them outside. The easiest solution for me is to run them through the attic and out the gable end of the building.

Does the maximum distance these vents can travel depend on the fan pushing them or is there a code requirement? If it's based on the fans, will the fan specifically tell me the distance, or is there some kind of formula based on CFM ?

Is it preferred to have them go out of the roof or out a side wall using a wall cap? (I'd personally not like to have to add 3 more roof penetrations if possible)

What about putting the exhaust down through a soffit? This is probably my last choice due to the fact that steam rises, and would probably make a huge mess out of the soffit material.

You sure you want to do that? Keep in mind that venting your farts into the attic may be the only thing keeping squirrels, birds, raccoons, bats, rats, burglars, aliens, Pauly Shore, etc. out of your attic....
