exhaust flue on hot water heater when power is out


Should I shut down the gas and forego having any hot water?

exhaust flue on hot water heater when power is out


If it does not use a power vent and uses a standing pilot, you are fine. Even with a power vent, if it does not have a standing pilot, nothing is going to happen.

My wh has a power vent, should I shut it down in a power outage?

They have an air proving swich that would lock out the unit.Standing pilot light would be ok.
