Enough Return Air?

2500 sqft home which was recently purchased.
Goodman 5 ton Heat Pump (Copeland Scroll) with a Variable Speed Air Handler

I don't seem to have any airflow issues at this time. However, after reading many posts here, I am concerned that I do not have enough return air to the air handler. The reurn box is approximately 24" x 24". The return configuration is as follows;

8" round return serving two bedrooms.
8" round return serving two bedrooms.
8" round return located in large kitchen (10' from range/ stove). This return is basically tied within two feet to the return box.
10" x 12" square trunkline that returns air from LR, DR and Family room.

As stated earlier, I get more than enough supply air to the registers. But how about the return air?

Enough Return Air?

Your return duct system is too small.
Most likely, so is yur supply.
Are you judging that your supply is ok, by how hard the air is blowing out of the supplyregisters.
That is a very misleading way to do it.

Enough Return Air?

Supply does not seem to be an issue. I have a plenum up in the attic that branches into two large trunk lines that have 8" supply ducts to all rooms and all seem to receive very good airflow. No problems keeping home comfortable. I figured the return air was lacking. How much more do I need? The return box which is 24" x 24" is split in half for access due to the subfloor. All the returns are located below the subfloor in the crawlspace. I do have access to return box above the subfloor which is approximately 12" x 24". I could run a new return to the living room which has no return vent. How does this sound and what size return should I go with?

Enough Return Air?

8 x 20, 10 x 16, 12 x 14. Somethng in that sq in range.

You need about another 800 CFM, of low resistance return air.
