enclosing a furnace in a garage

building a garage with a living space above. Need to enclose a Goodman GMH95 high gas-fired furnace in one of the garage bays.
Questions:
1) type of door 2) vents 3) is fire rating a factor 4) may have to wire this mug...can a rookie do it?

Welcome to the Forum,
The most important thing is to be safe.

Since there are so many regional and local variations the best way to be safe is to call your Building & Safety to get your very own requirements e.g. a common requirement is that the ignition source be at least 18" above the garage floor, is this the same in your area?

.

I believe you will also find that many areas have a line of site code also.
meaning that if the garage door opens. And a car can be driven in straight and hit the furnace, You must put a bollard or some other means of stopping the car.

A 2X4 wall will qualify in one area, and not the next.

As Bob said. Check your local codes first.

What provisions have you made to prevent freezing of furnace condensate?

Make sure that return air is tight , don't want to pulling any exhaust fumes from combustion engines through the system.
