Enable Humidifier with Fan?

Hi guys,

I have a 2006-era Lennox High Efficiency Furnace (no AC) and a flow through pad style humidifier.

We'd like to enable the humidifier whenever the fan comes on, but right now it's only when heat is enabled.

I see that the solenoid that controls the waterflow to the humidifier is connected to the furnace's logic board. Is there a connection there I can change so it kicks in with the fan and not with just heat?

Thanks from a dry and itchy Canadian who wants humidification with the summer fan and not just with the heat!

The reason that it's wired that way is because you only want to use the humidifier in the winter.

Enable Humidifier with Fan?

If you still want to run it anyway.. I would advise otherwise... you can wire it to G and C

Enable Humidifier with Fan?

Keeping in mind that not much humidity will be released into the air as the humidifer humidty process does rely on the furnace to warm the air so it can absorb the moisture

Enable Humidifier with Fan?

Acomfort and hvac dude: Thank you both for your prompt and helpful replies! I realize that there is minimal benefit to running the humidifier sans hot air, but the air in Calgary is very dry in the fall and spring, but it's still not cool enough for the furnace... So I was looking for any incremental moisture I could add to the house, since we have a new baby and need some more moisture in the air for him.

In tandem with enabling the humidifier on the "G" line (which I believe enables it whenever the fan is on, can you confirm?) I have also added a vaporizer-style room humidifier to the baby's room, so if that works I will re-wire the humidifier back to the "W" line from the "G" line I've moved it to.

Thanks again!

[edit] I should add I tested the wire change to G by turning the humidifer on with the furnace fan on, and I hear water - if I turn the humidistat lower and it clicks off, I hear the water stop - so I think it's working! [/edit]

Thanks! One is connected to G the other goes up to the humidistat, so I assume that's the "C".
