Electric heater runs for 10 minutes, goes off for 2

abefroman Member   Join Date: Jan 2009 Posts: 198	Electric heater runs for 10 minutes, goes off for 2 Electric heater runs (box type tied into the a/c blower) for 10 minutes, goes off for 2, even though it didn't reach the set temp. Is this normal? What kind of regular maintenance are you suppose to do to those? Annual cleaning? TIA

fitter1 Member   Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: N. Central Ma. Posts: 33	Electric heater runs for 10 minutes, goes off for 2 Sounds like the electric heater is cycling on a limit switch. Check for low air flow, make sure all the registers are wide open as well as return air grills.
