Electric furnace woes!

Hello! I do believe I have a mess.

First off, I plan on replacing this "mess" in the spring but until then I hope someone can help.

I have this Goodman electric furnace in the attic, this is a heat-pump/electric furnace system. Since the outside temp is well below 35 degrees and my heat pump has a bad Freon leak I've opted the run solely on the emergency heat setting using the electric furnace. Now for the "real" problem.

If I set my thermostat at, say 70 degrees, my furnace will come on as expected start with one icon of heat on the thermostat, then two. When the house get to 1/2 of a degree of the set point, the second part of the heating drops out and the darn thing just runs and runs. I spoke with a repairman and he said that Goodmans are designed this way. Just thinking that this cannot be right. Please help and thank you in advance!!!

Jumper W1 and W2 at the air handler or thermostat.

Was going to apply the jumper but I don't have a W1. I vaguely remember the one hvac tech that was here on a seperate issue told me I could move the white wire(W2) over to the E terminal with the black wire or visa versa. Later his boss said that would be a bad idea. Am I on the right track with what you're telling me? Also, am really going to make any improvement in heating and efficiency or am I just wasting my time with this mixed matched piece of junk? Thanks again!

Can you post a pic of the wires connected to the air handler. Also check what size breaker is connected to the air handler.

You would need to jumper from E to W2. If you moved the wires from W2 to E, you would have aux heat when the heat pump needed to use it.

use emergency heat if you are not using the HP.
